Ever since ancient times, in search for rescue for their disease, the people looked for drugs in nature. Medicinal plants and herbal drugs have made a tremendous contribution to national health and development from the very beginning.
Our heritage is high in the mountains – Locally known as the “town of clouds”, ‘Everest of Vietnam”, Sapa- Lao Cai is a charming treasure trove of Northwest Vietnam. At a glimpse of an eye, it effortlessly mesmerizes travelers by the beauty of iconic cascading terraced rice fields, lush valleys and emerald mountains lying side by side. This is a hub of culture diversity with more than 25 ethnic groups and is a melting pot of cultures and history. The ethnic minorities live in high mountain areas, close to nature, where vegetation is abundant. Life is associated with mountains and forests, so they have a lot of knowledge about medicinal plants in the forest and experience in using them in daily life.
Endowed with beautiful natural landscapes, a refreshing climate, and the vibrant cultures of ethnic minorities, Lao Cai is very suitable for growing medicinal plants, which can create more jobs for ethnic minority women to improve their income and increase their status in the family and social-economic activities.
